Leave it to irrevevant pop musicians to do something inventive with disposable cameras. You can check out his DIY setup almost immediately in the video but have to wait around to about 1:47 to see it in action. Feel free to dance around in the interim.

I’m a bit promiscuous when it comes to collectives. Besides Meridian, I also work with another group called Goddamn Cobras. We make videos. Lots of them. Our latest is a music video for Brooklyn-based Pearl and the Beard and their whimsical Will Smith medley. One day last month we rambled through my neighborhood and shot anywhere we were inspired. Because of time constraints, we only shot about an hour worth of footage and had slightly more than a month to edit a video before Pearl and the Beard went on tour. This is a product of five Saturdays in a row spent in Ian’s room with a borrowed computer.

I actually got some instruction from the lovely Ian Parker and put my photo editing skills to use and worked on the color correcting aspect. The lighting in the church was any editor’s nightmare but we got it looking rather lovely, if I do say so myself. Hurray for skills crossing over to other mediums!

so this:

is a video i shot/cut for a friend's band, bus-stop shanking. shot it like 6 weeks ago, but finally got it finished last night.

it actually came out pretty close to what i saw in my head beforehand:

the exceptions to the realization of that vision being
A) not being able to get ahold of a single tarp/sheet big enough, and having to use 3 bed sheets instead, and
B) having to deal with a drunker-than-expected, and astonishingly uncooperative, band. which of course led to fewer usable takes, fewer takes...period, and therefore VERY limited raw footage to work with.

but i gave it the old college try, and am mildly pleased with the outcome.

we finished another one too, which i will put up here as soon as i figure out this vimeo thing...
