Will’s Month in Review

Will had a lot of fun with light this month, shadows and subject popping from their light sources. He also got outdoor photos that don’t involve snow which I am pretty jealous about. As always, he was a ramblin’ man, heading home, meeting Ozzy and hanging out with furries. When are you going on your road trip Will?

Tea Party Video

Here is my producing debut. I shot the video on my 5d mark II and then edited it on Final Cut Pro. I only had a 4 gig card, severely limiting what I could shoot, so please excuse the lack of b-roll. Also, the sound was only recorded through my camera, a big no-no to anyone trying to shoot anything worthwhile on HDDSLRS but I did what I could with what I had.

Lauren Greenfield traveled to a few cities’ fashion weeks and documented the whole she-bang. My first thought was…is that it?

#Snowpocalypse

In case you haven’t heard, its snowing hardcore all over the east coast. Unfortunately, it’s Fashion Week so I can’t call off work and go sledding in Central Park. Here are a few shots I grabbed on a very cold walk to lunch.

Why yes, that IS my ass in the New York Times

This is not how I imagined my first appearance in the New York Times. I imagined a well lit subject, doing something immensely interesting, in a large photo above the fold on page one. Never did I imagine getting caught in the dragnet for a piece on Micheal Musto. Granted, I was acknowledged in this article, but not by name.
For the record, my butt looks lumpy due to my phone in my pocket. I have since learned my lesson and do not plan to store my phone there ever again. …

Will’s Month in Review (or, A New Tradition)

Will and I decided at the end of the month to send one another a selection of photos, with the photographer on the receiving end pulling 5 or so of their favorite images. Shooting on opposites coast with different styles and agenda, I’m hoping we can perhaps document a national zeitgeist between the two of us. I also hope this inspires me to get out with my camera (even if I can’t feel my fingers) since I just realized that the latest round for the Emerging Photographer Grant is upon …

Since I write for my boss on Sundance’s fashion blog, I try to keep up with the other bloggers. Typically, its all fine and swell but fashion just doesn’t get my heart all a flutterin’. This post by Christina Turner, however, got me going! James Blagden took an old radio interview with Dock Ellis and illustrated his crazy tale about pitching a no hitter for the San Diego Padres while on LSD. Collaboration at its finest! According to Turner, Blagden is currently at Sundance with this video. A personal …

Vice has been all over the internets lately with their new CNN partnership. But, honestly, checking out this preview puts the partnership in perspective. This documentary looks amazing. I’m all for publishing Good Stories by any means necessary and Vice is definitely keeping it real with this one.

Video for Papadukes

I posted a teaser of this project a few weeks ago. It is now done and hopefully blowing up the internet and selling this house. It’s cheesy but real estate people have been responding positively. This is my first editing project and I learned lots along the way (clipping audio! drop shadows! the rules of speeding up video!). My dad contributed to a new Macbook Pro–love you pops–so I can edit on my own now and not harass friends who have computers capable of running final cut pro.
