Lauren Greenfield’s so-so shots from Fashion Week

I’ve been quiet on here as it’s New York Fashion Week and I am a slave to fashion for these 10 odd days. It’s exhausting. Fortunately, I only have one fashion week every six months, but some editors and buyers have fashion month-and-a-half, traversing the world (or at least London, Milan and Paris) to look at designer’s new collections. Lauren Greenfield traveled to a few cities’ fashion weeks and documented the whole she-bang in the video above. My first thought was…is that it? Full disclosure, Will and I were both totally burned by Greenfield and rejected for her three month unpaid internship.

But way more importantly, I see way more interesting shots at my work, where some photographers make magical shots on the daily. For some reason, I am generally not impressed with photojournalists take on fashion week. I would think a fresh eye would bring fresh shots, but more research into what has and is done would serve these photojournalists better.

UPDATE: I realized this post sounds a bit more negative than I intended. I am a huge, HUGE fan of Greenfield. Have you seen Thin? This was her first foray into video and it’s amazing. And inspired me to do the same.

This video is boring. What is it trying to sell?

I liked the video. Lauren, if you still need an intern, I offer a variety of services, such as opening jars and lying down in muddy puddles.
