Will’s Month in Review (or, A New Tradition)

by Jackie Snow 2 February 2010 119 views Comments

Will and I decided at the end of the month to send one another a selection of photos, with the photographer on the receiving end pulling 5 or so of their favorite images. Shooting on opposites coast with different styles and agenda, I’m hoping we can perhaps document a national zeitgeist between the two of us. I also hope this inspires me to get out with my camera (even if I can’t feel my fingers) since I just realized that the latest round for the Emerging Photographer Grant is upon us and I have nothing new to show.

Will’s photos cover a lot of ground, content-wise. He is shooting a lot for himself as well as for publications, both being interesting and visually appealing. I like that Will’s only photo without a person (Will isn’t one for still lifes or vistas) still focuses on a humanlike character. The remaining four are classic single person portraits, with the golfer and surfer shot having framing coming in from two different ways. All in all, it was a good month for the residents of San Diego County if they ran across Will Parson.
